Emergency Preparedness begins with taking steps before an emergency so that you will have the necessary resources and knowledge during and after.
The Multnomah Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) is ready to assist you in becoming emergency prepared for yourself, your household, and your neighbors.
Collecting, studying, and applying emergency preparedness information can be a daunting task. There is an overwhelming assortment of information available that may be contradictory or may not apply to the Portland area risks. We can help guide you through information so you can plan and implement a sensible plan for yourself, your household, and your neighbors.
Multnomah NET supports your emergency preparedness efforts through information we provide in a variety of formats and venues, including:
Multnomah NET Meetings - These are routinely scheduled planning meetings where a variety of emergency preparedness topics are discussed. These meetings are open to the public. See the schedule here.
Community Preparedness Pods - This program enables you to organize emergency preparedness along with your neighbors. We build stronger communities when we prepare for emergencies, large and small, with our neighbors. Read More...
Speakers Bureau - Multnomah NET volunteers are trained to deliver a one-hour overview presentation prepared by the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management. This presentation is designed for delivery to mutual interest and faith groups, community and professional organizations, or neighborhood groups.
Community Events - Look for our booth or table at local events like Multnomah Days, Earth Day, SW Parkways, and other community block parties and picnics.
Local Block Parties and Picnics - We can set up a table to answer questions and deliver information at picnics and street-level block parties.
Contact multnomahnet@gmail.com for more information about how we can bring information to you and your group.
Preparing for a Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ) Earthquake prepares us for most any other type of disaster we may face in the Portland area.
The three tri-folds listed below describe the effects of a major earthquake, an overview of emergency preparedness, and how to join with your neighbors for mutual support.
This tri-fold describes what we might expect in the Multnomah Neighborhood following a major earthquake emergency, along with resources that can keep you informed.
This tri-fold provides an overview of emergency preparations you can make to prepare yourself and your household. Some of these preparations are minor adjustments you can make in the course of routine life; others may require larger changes. These changes are doable one step at a time.
The Community Preparedness Pod program helps neighbors build groups prepared for emergency based on strong social connections and a shared understanding of how to safely and effectively support each other. Read more about Pods here and download the tri-fold.
